[0:00] I greet you in the name of Jesus this morning. Appreciate the thoughts we heard here. And, you know, the devil quoted scripture when he was tempting Christ.
[0:19] He likes to teach the Bible. Did you know that? He likes to do that. And then he likes to mix a little poison in with it.
[0:35] When he teaches the Bible, he doesn't teach it right. But he loves to teach the Bible wherever he has the opportunity. Amen.
[0:48] Blessing to be here this morning. Turn to John Savin. And, you know, not too long ago I was bringing a message and I read these verses.
[1:07] And in the middle of it something jumped out here. So let me read John Savin, verse 37.
[1:19] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirsts, let him come unto me and drink.
[1:31] He that believeth on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. For this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.
[1:45] For the Holy Ghost was not yet given, because that Jesus was not yet glorified. Now, the phrase that the Lord brought to my attention was this little phrase, He that believeth on me, as the scripture has said.
[2:08] As the scripture has said, you know, the apostles, when they preached, and Jesus, when he taught, he taught out of the Old Testament.
[2:21] And there's many prophecies. And I believe that they, if we would know them better, they would be a strength to us.
[2:31] To know that all these things were prophesied hundreds of years before they came. And now, you know, thousands of years ago.
[2:43] Well, I was looking at some of these, and I know there's many more, but a few that I found that we might look at this morning.
[2:59] There's, of course, the book of Joel. There's Isaiah has some. I want to look at Ezekiel. I want to bring out a verse in Peter yet before we go to Ezekiel.
[3:15] In 1 Peter chapter 1, he's talking about our salvation. Receiving, in verse 9, Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls, of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you, searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, did signify, when it testified beforehand, the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.
[4:00] You know, and I believe what happened as these prophets, as they were prophesying, as they wrote the Scriptures, they got a glimpse, they got a revelation of the New Testament, the New Covenant, and the grace that was coming.
[4:21] But they couldn't really understand it. But they wrote what they were shown. And they wrote in faith. And there's a verse in Hebrews.
[4:38] He's actually quoting out of Ezekiel. In Hebrews 10, verse 16. Now, where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
[5:13] And having therefore, brethren, boldness, to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated forth through the veil, that is, through his flesh.
[5:27] And he goes on, talking about a high priest. And Jesus is our high priest. But the verse that I wanted is the verse that says, I will put my laws into their hearts, and into their minds will I write them.
[5:45] This is a prophecy out of Ezekiel. I want to turn to Ezekiel. It's chapter 36. And I want to spend some time here going through this.
[6:00] Ezekiel 36. And we'll start reading in verse 22. Therefore, say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, I do not this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whether ye went.
[6:24] And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them. And the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
[6:43] For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you.
[7:02] A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes.
[7:20] And you shall keep my judgments, and do them. Now, you know, as I said, these prophets, they wrote what they heard from the Holy Ghost.
[7:38] But they didn't really understand the new covenant, the new testament, the way we do and the way we have it. But here he was writing this.
[7:50] And let's just look at this for a moment. You know, just think with me, how things were, you know, maybe now would be a good time to get a verse in Isaiah.
[8:06] In Isaiah 59. You know, in Isaiah 59, he talks about a people that are in a terrible condition. He talks about a people that are lost, and have walked away from God, or have never known God.
[8:26] And in verse 14 and 15, he says, truth has fallen, and there's no one that follows God. And then verse 16, he says, and he saw that there was no man.
[8:41] You know, I believe that the first part of this chapter, he's describing a people that do not know God. He's describing, he's describing backslidden Israel.
[8:53] He's describing the backslidden church. He's describing a nation that does not know God. But he's describing a people without hope.
[9:05] And that is how the world was before Christ. Before, before, without, without Christ, that would be, that would describe the whole world.
[9:20] But in verse 16, God saw that there was no man. He wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore, his arm brought salvation unto him, and his righteousness, it sustained him.
[9:34] God knew from the beginning that there was no way that humanity could be saved unless he sent an intercessor, unless he sent Jesus, the Son of God, to this earth to make a way of salvation for humanity.
[9:54] And so that is what God did. It says he, therefore, his arm brought salvation, and his righteousness, it sustained him.
[10:05] You know, and our own righteousness, it's filthy rags, there's no way that we can earn our own salvation. And so, in Ezekiel, again, here, verse 22, I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for my holy name's sake.
[10:30] You know, now let's think back of Israel. Backslidden Israel. It's just the same with them back then, and it's the same with us as a church today.
[10:47] The Backslidden Church of today brings a reproach upon the name of God. And so God is wanting to bring out a people that will show forth his power and will show forth his glory to a lost and a dying world.
[11:04] And he does this. Why? Because his name is being reproached. His name is being profaned. Like verse 23 says, It says, I will sanctify my great name which was profaned among the heathen which ye have profaned in the midst of them.
[11:28] And then what? And the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God. When I shall have sanctified, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
[11:42] You know, God has always desired to raise up a people that will walk with him. A people that will walk in obedience. A people that will magnify his name and his power.
[11:55] You know, in the New Testament there's a verse that says that he will show to the principalities and the powers. The awesome wisdom and power of God.
[12:08] And he does that through the church. And that's what he's doing today. It's through the church. But here's a prophecy of this very thing. A God.
[12:21] God. God. God. God. Raising up a people that will walk in holiness and in righteousness and be sanctified.
[12:37] Verse 24. I will take you from among the heathen. You know, when we are born again, we are removed out of the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
[12:52] We're removed from that kingdom. We are removed from it. You know, we are either in one kingdom or the other.
[13:02] We're never in between. The whole world lieth in wickedness. The whole world lies under the powers of darkness. Under the powers of Satan.
[13:13] But God is establishing his kingdom in this dark world. And so he says he will take us from among the heathen and he will gather us.
[13:25] He will gather his people out of all countries and he will bring us into a land where we can serve God. Notice what he says here.
[13:38] Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you and you shall be clean. You know, God cleanses us when we come to him.
[13:49] He cleanses us and he sets us free. He cleanses us from the things of this world. He cleanses us from the old life. He cleanses us. He washes us with the blood of Jesus and he sets us free and he brings us into the kingdom of his dear son.
[14:09] He will cleanse us from all our filthiness and from all our idols. He will cleanse us. You know, today, today we have many professing Christians that are not allowing God to cleanse them.
[14:30] They are not allowing him to separate them from the world, but they want to cling to their idols and they want to walk in the filthiness of the flesh and it does not work.
[14:45] God has made all provisions for us to walk in victory and how has he done that? Now, let's look at verse 26. A new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you.
[15:03] You know, the plan of redemption, the regeneration that we experience when we become a new creature in Christ Jesus.
[15:17] When we're born again, old things pass away and all things become new. He gives us a new heart. He gives us a new heart that wants to serve God, that wants to live a holy life, that wants to fulfill his will.
[15:35] A new spirit he puts within us the Holy Ghost. He says, I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh.
[15:47] Hallelujah. You know, what a prophecy of the new birth. Is this our experience?
[15:58] are we still walking? Are we still allowing, giving place to that old? He says, I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and ye shall keep my judgments and do them.
[16:21] When God, when we're born again and God puts that seed of Christ within us and he puts his spirit within us, he says he will cause us to walk in his statutes.
[16:40] How will he do that? Well, I'll tell you, it's like this. If we're truly regenerated and we're truly born again and we have the new life within us, the spirit of God controlling us, then our desires will be toward him.
[16:59] We are the desires in our heart, that new heart will be to walk in the will of God and to fulfill his will and his calling for us.
[17:11] That's how he will do it whenever, whenever we want to, we want to say, we want to say yes to the wrong thing. Then the Holy Ghost will put a reminder in us and he will just bring up a flag and say, wait a minute, wait a minute, that's wrong.
[17:29] You don't want to say yes to that. You want to say no to that. That needs to be put away. That needs to be put under. But you must say yes to my way.
[17:43] And it says here, if we will, if we will walk with him, it says he will cause us to walk in his statutes. He will cause us to walk in his way.
[17:57] He will cause us to walk in the path of righteousness. He will. If we will yield to him, if we will allow him to put his spirit within us and if we will be obedient to the Holy Ghost, he will do that.
[18:16] that we will always fulfill his plan and his will. It says, ye shall keep my judgments and do them.
[18:28] You know, we see many professing Christians that do not walk in God's ways. They do not walk in God's judgments. They make excuses to live in the flesh and to fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
[18:44] the Bible says he will cause us to walk in his statutes.
[18:55] He will cause us to keep his judgments and to do them if we will walk with him, if we will yield ourselves to him.
[19:08] He will take out that stony heart. He will take out that heart that wants to go its own way. He will take out that rebellious heart and he will give us a new one.
[19:22] He will give us a new heart to demonstrate to the world the power of God. You know, you know, there's much, there's so many people out there today professing to be Christians, but the world mocks at them.
[19:43] Why? Because they're living just like the world. They walk in the lusts of the flesh and the lusts of the eye and the pride of life and they mock the name of Christ and the world mocks at them and profanes the name of Christ.
[20:02] Why? Because of them. But God has a people are we part of them. God will always have a people that are walking and carrying the truth of the gospel, walking in the spirit of God.
[20:23] Walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Hebrews 12, 14 Without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
[20:45] And maybe I'll need to read. I'm going to read a couple of verses in 2 Corinthians. Very familiar verses.
[20:56] 2 Corinthians 10 Verse 3 But for though we walk in the flesh we do not war after the flesh for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
[21:41] Casting down imaginations casting down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Every thought must be brought into captivity.
[21:53] every thought must be brought under the power of Christ. You know we make those decisions all day every day.
[22:08] Will we say yes or will we say no? And we must make the right decision because wrong decisions have consequences. Wrong decisions will take us down a wrong road.
[22:22] everything whatever it is that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. He says and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
[22:41] That's the recipe for victory right there. Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
[22:53] Holiness is to be separated from the world and to be running toward God to walk with him to give ourselves to him to say yes to him and no to the world all day every day.
[23:10] We cannot have God and the world both. It's one or the other. We're either in the kingdom of the world or in the kingdom of God. We're never we can never sit on the fence and be part of both.
[23:28] Believe it's in Philippians says he who has begun a good work in you will finish it and he will also I wonder if I could find that both to will and to do in Philippians 2 in Philippians 2 start reading talking about Jesus says let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God but made himself of no reputation took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men and being found in fashion as a man he humbled himself in being obedient in the death even the death of the cross wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name that the name of
[24:34] Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father wherefore my beloved as ye have always obeyed not as in my presence only but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure it is God that works in us to what both to will and to do his good pleasure notice notice that verse now compare that with what we read in Ezekiel he says he will what does he say here he will cause us to walk in his statutes and to keep his judgments and to do them he will cause us to walk in his way to fulfill his word to walk in his statutes and walk in his judgments in
[25:54] Philippians he says it is God which worketh in us both to will and to do his good pleasure so if we will walk with him and if we will yield ourselves to him he will work in us that we will fulfill his plan and his will just do all things without murmurings and disputings that ye may be blameless and harmless the sons of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation among whom ye shine as lights in the world holding forth the word of life that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain neither labored in vain notice here he says that we will be blameless and harmless the sons of God he just points out this contrast us in the kingdom of
[26:57] God in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation that's where we're at today we live in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation and we shine as lights in the world holding forth the word of life are we holding forth the word of life are we holding it forth and saying that this word will stand forever this word does not change this word will be fulfilled this word will someday judge every human being hallelujah God has a claim on us God which worketh in us he works in us to bring us to the place that we will yield ourselves to him he works in our hearts to bring us to the place that we will say yes to him and say no to the world you know let's turn to Hebrews chapter 12
[28:17] Hebrews chapter 12 here he talks about chastening chastening chastening chastening you know maybe we should start verse 1 wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses and he just got done giving all that list going through Hebrews 11 and the all those men of faith and women of faith that he lists there and now he says he says we are compassed by such a great cloud of witness and he says lay aside every weight lay aside every weight and the sin which has so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us looking unto
[29:19] Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him he endured the cross despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God for consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds remember when Jesus was crucified how they said yo if you're the son of God come down off the cross he saved others himself he cannot save and all of those things they threw in his face that day but Jesus he had to die why he had to die that he could pay for our sin that's why he had to die he endured he endured such contradiction of sinners when he went to the cross yes he says ye have not yet resisted unto blood striving against sin you know it doesn't cost us our blood to say no to sin no and ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children my son are we sons of God if we're born again this is us my son despise not thou the chastening of the
[30:57] Lord nor faint when thou art rebuked of him for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth and he scourges every son whom he receiveth you know this is this is God in his love and in his mercy working in us to keep us in the straight and narrow to keep us walking in his path and in his judgments to fulfill his will and his plan for our life to walk unspotted from the world this is his plan and it says whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth and he scourges every son whom he receiveth you know if God loves you if you're his son he won't let you go the wrong direction if you say yes to the wrong thing he's going to try to stop you he's going to put road blocks in your way he's going to chasten you to turn you around and bring you back again you know
[32:08] I I recently heard a message and the man brought out something that I'd never thought of this but the Bible tells us Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated and you look at their lives you can see how God chastened Jacob Jacob you know Jacob was an evil man he was a supplanter he was a deceiver and he stole the birthright he tried to fulfill God's plan in his own strength and in his own way but God chastened him and worked in his life until he brought him to the place that he said you are no longer Jacob but now you are Israel but Esau Esau God didn't chasten him why his heart was not to follow God and God let him go
[33:10] God let him go he let him go his own way and that's how it is with humanity today if we are a son of God he will chasten us to keep us in the right way but if our heart is set against him he will let us go he will let us go if he endure chastening God dealeth with you as with sons for what son is he whom the father chastens not but if he be without chastisement where of all our partakers then are ye bastards and not sons furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us and we gave them reverence shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the father of spirits and live for they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure but he for our prophet that we might be partakers of his holiness
[34:30] God remember what he said in Ezekiel I will cause you he says I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you will be clean I will cleanse you from your filthiness and I will cleanse you from all your idols I will cleanse you I will clean you up and I'll give you a new heart and you'll be able to serve me only when he gives us a new heart but that was a promise that God gave and that is why he chastens his sons that we can be that we can bring honor and glory to him that we can be partakers of his holiness verse 10 that we might be partakers of his holiness without holiness no man shall see the Lord now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous but grievous nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them that are exercised thereby wherefore lift up the hands which hang down and the feeble knees and make straight paths for your feet lest that which is lame be turned out of the way but let it rather be healed you know restoration straight paths lame he wants the lame to be healed he wants he wants us to be healed he wants us to walk in the power of his spirit he wants us to walk straight paths follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the
[36:28] Lord holiness before this he tells us he chastens us that we might be partakers of his holiness now he says without holiness no man shall see the Lord holiness the people of God are a holy people follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God lest any root of bitterness bringing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled lest there be a fornicator or profane person as Esau who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright for you know how that afterward when he would have inherited the blessing he was rejected for he found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears you know
[37:35] Esau here we have him again Esau he despised his birthright it didn't matter to him he didn't care he didn't care about God he didn't care about the ways of God he didn't care about his father's his father's religion he didn't care about his father's relationship with God he didn't care he went out and he went his own way and here when he when he would have sought repentance but he did not come to God with his whole heart so he found no place of repentance let's go back to verse 15 just looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God the grace of God is available to us today we're in the day of grace and it is available he says let's look diligently lest any man fail of this grace lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled and it goes on from there for that root of bitterness that root of bitterness it will defile it will if you give way to bitterness it will trouble you and it will keep you from walking in the grace of God and it will defile those around about you bitterness often comes from unforgiveness not forgiving someone that has wronged you not not not allowing God to to cleanse and set you free
[39:33] God's goal is to make us holy to be conformed to the image of Christ are you allowing him to do that in your heart are you allowing him to do that in your life do we love what God loves do we hate what God hates you know I want to where is that verse in Hebrews chapter 1 Hebrews chapter 1 talking about
[40:36] Christ and actually this is quoting a prophecy I didn't really look it up Hebrews 1 verse 8 but unto the son he saith thy throne O God is forever and ever a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom if we are a part of the kingdom of God then we're under this scepter the scepter of righteousness thou thou has loved righteousness and hated iniquity and he's talking about Jesus Jesus loved righteousness and he hated iniquity therefore God even thy God has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows God anointed
[41:41] Jesus with the oil of the Holy Ghost and today if we want the anointing of the Holy Ghost then we must love righteousness and we must hate iniquity even as Jesus does even as Jesus does you know if we will allow iniquity in our heart then we cannot expect to have the spirit working in us not at all not at all in chapter 10 verse 9 talking about Jesus again and this also is a prophecy that is quoted then said he lo I come to do thy will O God Jesus came to do the will of God he came to do the will of God he taketh away the first that he may establish the second he takes away the old covenant that he may establish the new covenant by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus
[43:02] Christ once for all because of the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus the body of Christ we are sanctified because of that offering he talks about let's read verse 11 and every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sins that was the old covenant but now this man Jesus after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down on the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool for by one offering he has perfected forever them that are sanctified he perfects us if we will allow him he will put that new heart within us and he will put his spirit within us and he will perfect us if we will allow him to chasten us and to work in us and to change us continually he will perfect us that we can walk a holy life and we can fulfill all the will of
[44:23] God whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us for after that he had said before this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days saith the Lord I will put my laws into their hearts and in their minds will I write them and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more hallelujah quoting the prophecy that we were reading in Ezekiel where God said I will sprinkle you with clean water and you will be clean from all your filthiness and from all your idols will I cleanse you such a wonderful prophecy and a new heart I will give you and a new spirit will I put within you oh hallelujah and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh and I will put my spirit within you and I will cause you to walk in my statutes and ye shall keep my judgments and do them hallelujah hallelujah are we fulfilling that are we allowing him are we allowing him to write his law in our heart are we walking in his statutes and in his judgments are we fulfilling all the will of
[46:08] God today if we are we've allowed him to do this to put that new heart within us to take away that stony hard heart like Esau's heart if we allow him to take that out and to put in us a new heart a heart that wills to serve God a heart that desires to fulfill all the will of God hallelujah hallelujah now continuing in Hebrews 10 verse 18 now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin having therefore brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus by a new and a living way which he hath consecrated for us through the veil that is to say his flesh and having a high priest over the house of God
[47:15] Jesus let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith having a heart sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water hallelujah you know in the old testament the high priest he went in he went in through the veil once a year with the blood of animals and he had to go in continually but Jesus Jesus shed his blood by his own blood he entered into the holiest of all hallelujah in the old testament it was a type of the real and Jesus he fulfilled that and now we have boldness Jesus opened the way for us to enter into the presence of God almighty hallelujah having therefore brethren boldness to enter into the holiest how by the blood of
[48:24] Jesus we can enter in hallelujah by a new and a living way the new covenant the new covenant ratified by the blood of Jesus hallelujah he says let us let us draw near you know Jesus he is now our high priest and he intercedes for us he ever lives to to to to intercede for us he is our high priest and he says here let us in verse 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith we don't have to fear to come into the presence of God but we can come in full assurance we can enter in the holiest of all we can enter in to the presence of God having a heart sprinkled from an evil conscience our bodies washed with pure water let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promise let us consider one another to provoke and to love and to good works you know we need one another we need fellowship one with another to provoke one another and to encourage one another to love and to good works not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is but so much the more as you see the day approaching hallelujah hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering without wavering but to hold fast to the profession of our faith and in the end of chapter 10 let's just go over verse 35 cast cast cast not away therefore your confidence which has great recompense of reward for ye have need of patience that after ye have done the will of God ye might receive the promise for yet a little while and he that shall come will come and will not tarry there's a day coming when Jesus is coming you know we've been looking for his appearing and he's not yet come but he will come he will come yes he will says now the just shall live by faith the just shall live by faith that's another prophecy that's a quote out of
[51:16] Habakkuk the just shall live by faith but if any man draw back my soul shall have no pleasure in him but we are not of them who draw back into perdition but of them that believe to the saving of the soul amen hallelujah he that is faithful unto the end shall be saved let us not draw back but let us be faithful that just shall live by his faith hallelujah the faith that God has put in our hearts let us walk in faith believing you know this this plan of salvation that God has provided for us it's so awesome you know Peter he talks about the prophets how they desire to see these things but they did not live to see them but we have we have been born in this dispensation the day of grace but they desired to see this day hallelujah what an awesome salvation redeemed by the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you
